I am in good standing with America’s Pet Registry, Inc., and all information submitted is true and accurate.

I agree to provide my dog’s current Rabies Vaccination Certificate/Tag and current Shot Records when checking in for a show. I understand that I will not be allowed to show if Rabies Vaccinations and Shot Records are not available.

*** A required Health Certificate with in 30 days prior to the Show date will be the decision of the Hosting Show Club and will be posted on the APRI Show Schedule.

By applying to exhibit at the America’s Pet Registry, Inc. sanctioned dog show, I agree to abide by the published rules for exhibitors and for show entries.

I agree to abide by the applicable APRI Pet owner, breeder, and exhibitor Codes of Ethics (the Codes of Ethics are published on the APRI web site and are available from the APRI office).

I agree to hold America’s Pet Registry, Inc. and the sponsoring club, their officers, employees, agents, judges, and volunteers blameless and free from all liability for any and all events whatsoever that may occur in connection with this APRI sanctioned dog show, whether such event or accident may be or may be alleged to be the result of any negligence of the aforementioned parties.

I understand that no scores will be recorded until a DNA specimen has been taken at the show and the microchip scanned and recorded. I further understand that my dog(s) will be micro-chipped before the show I am entering. I agree to supply APRI with the correct chip number with my application for show registration.

By exhibiting my dog(s) in an APRI sanctioned show, I grant permission to APRI to publish photos of me and/or my exhibitor(s) and my dog(s) and to use the photos for promotion of APRI.

Dog show entries for individual dog are 1st Show $25 , 2nd show $25, 3rd Show $10. Most show dates are 3 shows.

Judges’ Rules

Dogs will not be judged against each other, nor will the dog be judged according to the skill of the exhibitor; dogs will be judged as individuals against the written breed standard. Dogs will neither receive nor lose points based on the number of other dogs in the show.

Judges will at all times abide by the judges’ code of ethics and any rules provided by APRI. Judging will be based on four categories as follows. Judges may give a total of 200 points, with 180 and above constituting a qualifying score. Each of the following areas can receive up to 50 points.

  1. OVERALL IMPRESSION: Appearance; Movement; Temperament
  2. HEAD
  3. BODY
  4. FRONT & REAR QUARTERS

Mono or Bilateral cryptorchid is a disqualifying factor for all male dogs not previously neutered. Obvious incomplete growth in one or both testicles constitutes this disqualification. Any deviation from the bite that is accepted by each breed standard is a disqualifying factor. Due to on-going changes in legal requirements for surgical changes to dogs, APRI will not disqualify or fault any dog because of docking or cropping issues. Haircuts or clips are NOT to be penalized unless there is a not enough hair to judge coat texture and character.

Any judge giving a score of 30 or below must write the reason for that score on the score card and in the catalog!

To be declared an APRI Champion, a dog must score at least 90% (180) of the possible points in at least three shows, two of which must be as an adult. Judges will not be aware at the time of judging which dogs have previous points or champion status. Any Champion who scores 194 or better in three separate shows after attaining champion status will be awarded the title of Prominent Champion. Any dog scoring a perfect score of 200 in three separate shows will be awarded the title of Champion Par Excellence. Judges should be aware that those dogs competing for this title will be judged within their designated group with no indications on the judges’ catalog that they are already champions. They are to be judged on the same criteria, but are held to a higher standard to win the enhanced titles.

Judges are expected to be fully conversant with the standards of any breeds they are to judge at any given show. Before arriving at the show, they should make themselves aware of any unusual characteristics, disqualifying factors, or exceptions listed in the standards for any of the breeds they will judge.
